Bruises And Excuses

All throughout our lives we give ourselves reasons to why we can’t do things. When we get really honest with ourselves, most of these reasons are actually insecurities, creeping in to break us down.
1) “I’m not tall enough”
2) “I’m not smart enough”
3) “I’m not fast enough”
4) “I’m not old enough”
Although some of these points are things we can’t avoid, God has given us the power to conquer all things in which He has called us to.
Just because you’re bruised and broken, doesn’t mean it’s time to give up on your passion.Keep fighting the good fight, and don’t allow Satan to distract you from what Christ has called you to.
God will open up every opportunity, for you to flourish in what He has called you to accomplish.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you aren’t good enough. With Him, you are MORE than enough.
2 Peter 1:3 – His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

God's Greatest Joy Is to Pardon Sinners

God's Greatest Joy Is to Pardon Sinners

By Dominic Ferrero

Jesus said to the Servant of God, Sr. Josefa Menendez, "My Heart takes comfort in forgiving. I have no greater desire, no greater joy, than when I can pardon a soul." These words are beautiful, but it is easy to miss their significance.

First, it is necessary to understand the Heart of Jesus, which burns with infinite love for each and every one of His creatures. "Each soul is a matchless treasure to Me," said our Lord to Sr. Mary of the Trinity. The Catechism of the Council of Trent puts it in these words: "... [T]he love of God can be exhausted by no human iniquity." The only impediment to knowing and receiving this immense love is us — our pride, in particular. Pride invariably leads to unhappiness. How so? Because it blinds us to God's goodness and the reality of His almighty power. We are blinded by our arrogance, vanity, and conceit. We are blinded by our belief in ourselves over our Creator, through whom all good things are made.

Humility is just the opposite. To remain humble, we must pray confidently and believe firmly that every action of God, who is Love, is faultless, wise, loving and true, " ... for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride" (Dn 4:37).

As fallen creatures, inclined to selfishness, it shouldn't take long to realize that sin not only harms us, but also our Lord, who is worthy of so much compassion. Indeed, His sufferings are proportionate to His love, which is unfathomable! And it is sin, or the refusal to accept God's love, that wounds the gentle and tender Heart of Jesus. Conversely, it is love that delights the Heart of Jesus. Jesus revealed to St. Gertrude: "Nothing gives Me so much delight as the heart of man, of which I am so often deprived."

Yes, this must be true, for our Lord was willing to pay an infinite price for us — the price of His Precious Blood — so that we may receive and reciprocate His love. Confirming this truth are the words of Jesus to Sr. Benigna Consolata: "My love is fed by consuming miseries; the soul that brings Me the most, if the heart is contrite and humble, is the one that pleases Me most, because she gives Me an opportunity of exercising more fully My office of Savior."

When, in repentance, we approach our Lord in confession, we receive the graces that we need for our salvation. It is here that "he (the priest) applies to you the infinite merits of the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ with which He can wash away all stains from your soul" (St. John Bosco). Saint Thomas Aquinas reminds us that even "a single drop can save the whole world from all its sin."

If we are truly sorry for our sins, we need never doubt that we will receive God's mercy.

Without God we can do nothing (see Jn 15:5). This teaching, which should humble us greatly, will help us to better understand the words of Jesus to St. Faustina, as she records in her Diary: "I cannot punish even the greatest sinner if he makes an appeal to My compassion."

Why would Jesus refuse His mercy to a sinner that He alone inspired with repentance? He wouldn't. As St. John Vianney says, "It is not the sinner who returns to the Father to beg His forgiveness, but God who runs after the sinner and makes him return to Him. ... The good God is as prompt to grant us pardon when we ask it of Him as a mother is to snatch her child out of the fire." The Scriptures state: "Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed" (Ps 25:3), and as St. Alphonsus says, "no sinner has ever trusted in God, and has been lost."

As St. Faustina says, "God will not deny His mercy to anyone. Heaven and earth may change, but God's mercy will never be exhausted."

A beautiful story that illustrates God's mercy is related to us by St. Alphonsus. Taken from The Glories of Mary, the story reads as follows:

St. Vincent Ferrer once said to a man dying in despair: "Why will you ruin yourself when Jesus Christ wishes to save you?" And he answered, that in spite of Christ he would be damned. The saint replied: "And you, in spite of yourself, shall be saved." He began to recite the Rosary with the persons of the house, and behold, the sick man asked to make his confession, made it weeping, and then died.

This is one of many examples of Mary's powerful intercessory role as the "Mother of Mercy."

Let this be a reminder that we must give God His due. We must thank God immensely for His grace, and we must not forget to thank Our Lady, because every grace comes to us through her. In a revelation to St. Bridget, she heard Jesus speak the following words to Mary: "By my omnipotence, venerated mother, I have granted thee the pardon of all sinners, in whatever way it pleases thee, who devoutly invoke the aid of thy mercy."

When, burdened with sins, we must remember to approach our Lord with trust in His mercy and love for us. Before going to confession, you may find it helpful to recall the words Jesus speaks to us through the revelations of Sr. Benigna Consolata: "[T]he soul ought never to be afraid of God, because God is all-merciful; the greatest pleasure of the Sacred Heart of thy Jesus is to lead to His Father numerous sinners; they are My glory and My jewels. I love poor sinners so much!"

In response to so much love, let us strive to do God's holy will. By doing so, God can use us to bring back souls to Him. Think of how much joy we can bring our Lord, who takes comfort in forgiving. A lifetime spent in the service of our Lord is arguably the best thanksgiving that we can give to God for the great mercy that He has shown us.

According to the saints, there is no greater act of charity than bringing back souls to God. It does not require much, but we must be in a state of grace, which means that we have at least repented of all serious sins. Saint Therese of Lisieux said, "To pick up a pin for love can convert a soul. It is Jesus alone who can give such value to our actions. Let us then love Him with all our heart." Likewise, Jesus said to Sr. Benigna Consolata, "Souls are not saved if nothing is done for them. I died on the cross to save them — I ask of thee no great thing — only a word withheld, a look repressed, a pleasant thought banished, in a word all that restrains and mortifies nature. These little things, united to My infinite merits, acquire a great value."

Isn't the First Commandment, in essence, a call to love God with our whole being? Provided that we never forget our own need for mercy, we will make great advances in holiness if we trust in God and correspond to His graces as best we can. To be effective instruments in the hands of God, we must be docile, humble, and confident. As our Lord said to Sr. Benigna Consolata, "If I am good to all, I am very good to those who confide in Me. Dost thou know which souls take the greatest advantage of my goodness? They are those who hope the most. Confident souls steal my graces!"

Dominic Ferrero, 23, lives in Sydney, Australia. "I am a keen defender of the Catholic faith," he says, "and I am passionate about spreading the message of Divine Mercy, especially in relation to the Holy Eucharist."

2013: Day 117 - Inspiring Story from Friendsreflections Yahoo Group

"In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. I am going to prepare a place for you." – John 14:2

"Please bring your own towels for your island hopping adventure," said the receptionist at our honeymoon hotel. Upon arriving at the dock, our non-English speaking driver strangely asked for our towels as we got down from the car. He motioned as if to say, "Just trust me. I'll take care of everything."

We were a bit delayed in boarding the boat because I had to pay the tour guide for flippers and snacks. As I saw the people filling up the good spots, I sighed at the thought that we'd get the worst seats left. Then we saw our driver at the front of the boat signaling to us. To our surprise, we found our towels covering the best spot in the boat — the only two isolated seats right beside the captain. Our driver had reserved them for us.

There are times in our lives when we feel left behind. I did a year of volunteer service in the province right after college. When I returned, most of my AB Communication batch mates had gotten a head start as segment producers, TV hosts and even assistant directors. I had felt I gotten left behind. But after patiently waiting, working and praying, I now have my dream job as creative director of Bo Sanchez's media ministry. All the while, God was reserving the best seat I could ask for. George Tolentino Gabriel (george.svp@gmail.com)

Reflection: Do you feel you've been left behind? God is reserving the best seat for you.

Lord, You are the restorer of lost time.

Dear Lord,

Thank you so much for this wonderful message. You know exactly how I feel, I am feeling that I am left behind Lord by my batchmates. Help me Lord to prepare myself for your plans for me. Thank you Lord for being the restorer of lost time.

2013: Day 96 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 9

Ninth Day"Today bring to Me the Souls who have become Lukewarm,
and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. These souls wound My Heart most painfully. My soul suffered the most dreadful loathing in the Garden of Olives because of lukewarm souls. They were the reason I cried out: 'Father, take this cup away from Me, if it be Your will.' For them, the last hope of salvation is to run to My mercy."
Most compassionate Jesus, You are Compassion Itself. I bring lukewarm souls into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart. In this fire of Your pure love, let these tepid souls who, like corpses, filled You with such deep loathing, be once again set aflame. O Most Compassionate Jesus, exercise the omnipotence of Your mercy and draw them into the very ardor of Your love, and bestow upon them the gift of holy love, for nothing is beyond Your power.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon lukewarm souls who are nonetheless enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Father of Mercy, I beg You by the bitter Passion of Your Son and by His three-hour agony on the Cross: Let them, too, glorify the abyss of Your mercy. Amen.

2013: Day 95 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 8

Eighth Day"Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory,
and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice."
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.

2013: Day 94 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 7

Seventh Day
Today bring to Me the Souls who especially venerate and glorify My Mercy*,

and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.
Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God:

Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory. Amen.

*The text leads one to conclude that in the first prayer directed to Jesus, Who is the Redeemer, it is "victim" souls and contemplatives that are being prayed for; those persons, that is, that voluntarily offered themselves to God for the salvation of their neighbor (see Col 1:24; 2 Cor 4:12). This explains their close union with the Savior and the extraordinary efficacy that their invisible activity has for others. In the second prayer, directed to the Father from whom comes "every worthwhile gift and every genuine benefit,"we recommend the "active" souls, who promote devotion to The Divine Mercy and exercise with it all the other works that lend themselves to the spiritual and material uplifting of their brethren.

I attended the novena tonight after missing the 4 consecutive days of novena at the Divine Mercy prayer room. Thank God, me and my niece made it tonight and indeed You have reasons Lord. One of the sharers tonight is a cancer survivor. Thank you Lord for bringing me to this community. I love you Lord.

2013: Day 93 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 6

Sixth Day
Today bring to Me the Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of  Little Children,

and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.
Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, "Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart." Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father's favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

2013: Day 92 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 5

Fifth Day
"Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated themselves from My Church*,

and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion."
Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son's Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.

*Our Lord's original words here were "heretics and schismatics," since He spoke to Saint Faustina within the context of her times. As of the Second Vatican Council, Church authorities have seen fit not to use those designations in accordance with the explanation given in the Council's Decree on Ecumenism (n.3). Every pope since the Council has reaffirmed that usage. Saint Faustina herself, her heart always in harmony with the mind of the Church, most certainly would have agreed. When at one time, because of the decisions of her superiors and father confessor, she was not able to execute Our Lord's inspirations and orders, she declared: "I will follow Your will insofar as You will permit me to do so through Your representative. O my Jesus " I give priority to the voice of the Church over the voice with which You speak to me" (497). The Lord confirmed her action and praised her for it.

2013: Day 91 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 4

Fourth Day
"Today bring to Me those who do not believe in God and those who do not know Me,
I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy."
Most compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

*Our Lord's original words here were "the pagans." Since the pontificate of Pope John XXIII, the Church has seen fit to replace this term with clearer and more appropriate terminology.

2013: Day 90 - Easter Sunday & Divine Mercy Novena Day 3

Third Day
"Today bring to Me all Devout and Faithful Souls,
and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. These souls brought me consolation on the Way of the Cross. They were a drop of consolation in the midst of an ocean of bitterness."
Most Merciful Jesus, from the treasury of Your mercy, You impart Your graces in great abundance to each and all. Receive us into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart and never let us escape from It. We beg this grace of You by that most wondrous love for the heavenly Father with which Your Heart burns so fiercely.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon faithful souls, as upon the inheritance of Your Son. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, grant them Your blessing and surround them with Your constant protection. Thus may they never fail in love or lose the treasure of the holy faith, but rather, with all the hosts of Angels and Saints, may they glorify Your boundless mercy for endless ages. Amen.

2013: Day 89 - Divine Mercy Novena Day 2

Me and my niece attended the day 2 novena today at 3pm in the prayer room. Thank You Lord for this opportunity to pray that the prayers You taught us.

Second Day
"Today bring to Me the Souls of Priests and Religious,

and immerse them in My unfathomable mercy. It was they who gave me strength to endure My bitter Passion. Through them as through channels My mercy flows out upon mankind."
Most Merciful Jesus, from whom comes all that is good, increase Your grace in men and women consecrated to Your service,* that they may perform worthy works of mercy; and that all who see them may glorify the Father of Mercy who is in heaven.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the company of chosen ones in Your vineyard -- upon the souls of priests and religious; and endow them with the strength of Your blessing. For the love of the Heart of Your Son in which they are enfolded, impart to them Your power and light, that they may be able to guide others in the way of salvation and with one voice sing praise to Your boundless mercy for ages without end. Amen.

* In the original text, Saint Faustina uses the pronoun "us" since she was offering this prayer as a consecrated religious sister. The wording adapted here is intended to make the prayer suitable for universal use.

2013: Day 88 - Good Friday & Divine Mercy Novena Day 1

Today is Good Friday. Thank You so much Lord for Your great and unconditional love for us. Thank You for dying on the cross for my salvation. I love you Lord.
I just stayed home during the day, did my thing and watched on TV the seven Last Words of Jesus before He died for us. I really love to listen from others especially if they share stories about how God works in their life and it gives me inspiration and really amazes me. I love to read inspirational stories and I have read a lot and I also want to be like them Lord if it is Your will that I am going to share my story of how You amazingly work in my life, my honey's life, our life - all if You will Lord. You know what we are going through right now Lord. I am surrendering it to Your most Holy Will and please help me to trust You more. Help me Lord for I am weak. I was really touched the stories of the sharers today in the TV, made me cry and to not give up.

Tonight around 6 in the evening, me and my niece went to the Divine Mercy prayer room to attend the Novena. It was very hard for us to get a ride going to the place because there were only few jeepneys running and I decided if after few more minutes and still no jeep then we would just go home and I said a little prayer Lord please let us have a ride and then a minute after - there was a jeep already, wow amazing God. We got in the prayer room 6:30 pm and it started at 7. I wrote my prayer petitions and also my niece. It was really a very good experience to be able to attend this Novena and I believe deep inside me Lord that You are the one who led me to this community and for me to know more about You. Thank You Lord for working in my life and my loved ones. You always amaze me Lord. Please be with me always for sometimes I feel weak and about to give up. Inspire me always Lord and never leave my side for I don't know what happen to me without You. You always been my strength, my hope and my life. I am nothing without You.

First Day"Today bring to Me all mankind, especially all sinners,
and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. In this way you will console Me in the bitter grief into which the loss of souls plunges Me."
Most Merciful Jesus, whose very nature it is to have compassion on us and to forgive us, do not look upon our sins but upon our trust which we place in Your infinite goodness. Receive us all into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart, and never let us escape from It. We beg this of You by Your love which unites You to the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon all mankind and especially upon poor sinners, all enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion show us Your mercy, that we may praise the omnipotence of Your mercy for ever and ever. Amen.

2013: Day 83 - Divine Mercy Seminar Day 2

Today is the second day and last day of the seminar. Me and my niece CJ first attended the mass at the cathedral at 12 noon then went to eat and to the seminar. The sharers of today's seminar are all brothers in Christ. Thank You Lord for You brought me here to know more about you. Thank You Mama Mary for I really felt that You brought me near to Your son Jesus.
The best thing that happened today is after 10 years - I had my confession. You really made a way Lord because for how many times I was thinking to have my confession done but never did I do it and when they said that the priests are outside for those who wants to go for confession - I didnot hesitate to confess. Thank you Lord for your mercy and forgiveness. I did big mistakes in my life and thank You for forgiving me. Thank You Lord for Your words of encouragement today through the priest that I couldn't help but cry. Thank You Lord.  Thank You for the gift of Holy Spirit who is present within me/us. I was amazed I was able to stand up and shared something today infront without fear - it is all because of You Lord. I love you my Lord.

I made it because it is Your will Lord. Thank You Lord for I was able to attend the seminar today by responding to the sign I asked. My niece came to our house around 10 am and she is ready to go. That was the sign I asked from You Lord that if my niece would go without texting her then I would go too.

2013: Day 67 - Prayer Meeting

2013 - Day 67: Novena Prayer to St. Camillus de Lellis - First Day

St Camillus de Lellis is patron saint of the sick, hospitals and nurses. He dedicated his life to the sick and to organizing hospitals. He founded the Order of the Camillians, priests and brothers who work in the area of health. He considered the sick to be Jesus Himself.

PRAYER TO ST CAMILLUS DE LELLIS:
Glorious St Camillus, turn your merciful eyes upon those who suffer and those who care for them. Grant to the sick Christian resignation and trust in the goodness and power of God. Make those who take care of the sick be generous and lovingly dedicated. Help me to understand the mystery of suffering as a means of redemption and the way to God. May your protection comfort the sick and their families and encourage them to live together in love. Bless those who dedicate themselves to the infirm. And may the good God grant peace and hope to all. Amen.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be.
St Camillus de Lellis, pray for us.
PRAYER OF THE SICK:
Lord, I come before You in prayer. I know that You hear me, You know me. I know that I am in You and that Your strength is in me. Look at my body racked with infirmity. You know, Lord, how much it hurts me to suffer. I know that You are not pleased with the suffering of Your children.
Give me, Lord, the strength and courage to overcome moments of desperation and exhaustion. Make me patient and understanding. I offer up my worries, anxiety and suffering to be more worthy of You.
Let me, Lord, unite my sufferings with those of Your Son Jesus who for love of men gave His life on the Cross.
Furthermore, I ask You, Lord: Help doctors and nurses take care of the sick with the same dedication and love that St Camillus had.
WORDS OF JESUS:
•    “Blessed are those who suffer because they will be consoled.”
•    “I was sick and you visited me.”
•    “Come, blessed of my Father, and take possession of heaven.”
•    “Everything you do to the least of my brethren, you do to me.”
Novena prayers, day 1 to 9 – always begin with the Sign of the Cross.
End with the “Prayer of the Sick”, at the end of this post.

FIRST DAY:
Dear St Camillus, knowing that there is no greater love than to give your life for another, you patiently put up with many infirmities during your life without ceasing to work on behalf of the sick. Intercede with God so that I (or mention name(s) of the person(s) instead of “I” during the course of these novena prayers) may have the strength necessary to overcome the troubles that afflict my life and the life of my family and friends. Help me to spiritually benefit from everything that happens.
Do a good deed to someone in need.
Read Mark 5:21-43.  Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman
21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him.
A large crowd followed and pressed around him. 25 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” 29 Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
30 At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31 “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and,
trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
35 While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” they said. “Why bother the teacher anymore?”
36 Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
37 He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38 When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39 He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him.
After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

SECOND DAY:
Dear St Camillus, shocked by the abandonment in which the sick lived, you received from Jesus the inspiration to create an organization for caring for the sick with love. Help me to understand that it is important before God to treat those who suffer with love. In the difficult moments of life, give me courage not to become disheartened.
Pray for someone who suffers more than you do.
Read Mark 10:46-52.  Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.
The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”
52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

THIRD DAY:
Dear St Camillus, inspired by the example of the Good Samaritan, you vowed to improve the treatment of the sick. In all countries, may there be more concern and responsibility in helping the sick and in all health services. Give those who are in good health more joy in taking care of the sick. May everyone believe in the immense riches that God reserves for those who love Him and their brothers and sisters.
Ask God for the help needed by those who are not taken care of.
Read Luke 10:29-38.  29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’
36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”
37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”
Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.

FOURTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, because of your extraordinary love of the infirm, the Church declared you patron saint of hospitals, the sick and nurses. Intercede with God in favor of doctors, the sick and all who take care of them so that they may be good hearted, enthusiastic and competent in their work. Make them remember that Jesus said that ‘everything you do to the least of my brothers, you do to me’.
Pray for those who take care of the sick.
Read Matthew 25:31-46.  The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

FIFTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, meditating on the words of Jesus (everything you do to the least of my brothers, you do to me), you received from God such great faith that you considered the sick as if they were Jesus Himself. Help me to grow in faith in order to always increase my love of the sick and to be ready to help them like a loving mother cares for her only sick child.
Make an effort to have more faith.
Read John 5:1-18.  The Healing at the Pool
5 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. [4] [b] 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”
8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, 10 and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”
11 But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ”
12 So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”
13 The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.
16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” 18 For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.

SIXTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, in a moment of great difficulty, you heard from the open-armed crucifix: “Courage, do not become downhearted, this work is not for you, but for me.” Give me always the strength not to become disheartened before the problems of my life and that of others. May everything I suffer convince me of the immense power of God in my favor.
Never desist of doing good.
Read John 9:1-41.  Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
6 After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” 9 Some claimed that he was.
Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”
12 “Where is this man?” they asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said.
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”
18 They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”
20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”
24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”
25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
26 Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27 He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”
28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”
30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?”
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.
39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

SEVENTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, you had great devotion to the Mother of Jesus. May I have greater trust in the power of intercession of Mary with God and be able to imitate her virtues. Help me understand the meaning of suffering and not consider it a punishment. Lord, You helped Camillus in his struggles, help me in the difficulties I face to remain at peace and not get disheartened.
Peace must be worked at every day.
Read John 2:1-12.  Jesus Changes Water Into Wine
2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman,[a] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

EIGHTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, even in the most difficult situations, you always trusted entirely in Divine Providence. Increase my faith in the goodness and power of God in favor of His creatures. May I always put myself in His hands in order to be strong in trials and suffering. Help me remember the last words of Jesus: “I will be with you until the end of time.”
Never lose hope. God is there.
Read Matthew 6:25-34.  Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

NINTH DAY:
Dear St Camillus, inspired by the words of Jesus (“I was sick and you visited me”), you dedicated your life and all your strength to help the sick, and to improve hospitals and health conditions in the most difficult circumstances. Arouse everyone’s conscience to be more interested in health problems and to diminish the suffering of the people.
Commit yourself to doing good and being with the good.
Read John 13:1-17.  Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.”
Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.”
9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!”
10 Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.
12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

2013: Day 64 - St. Camillus de Lelis' Heart at San Pedro Cathedral

While I was talking to my hubby on skype and browsing the facebook, I saw my classmate Ryan posted pictures of St. Camillus veneration. I then started to search about St. Camillus if who is he. I found out that he is a saint of the sick people, nurses and doctors and there was this feeling or urge deep inside me to go for there will be a mass at 12 noon. I think it was God telling me to go. I asked permission from hubby and went to San Pedro. I arrived there before 12 and was able to witness and see the heart of St. Camillus and said my prayers asking his intercession. I also write the name of my hubby on the envelope for people who are sick and they will pray for them. I also went to the line where the priest will pray over you.. When it was my turn, I told the father to pray for my hubby who is sick and will have his surgery on the 15, I showed him the picture of my hubby and prayed over. Thank you so much Lord. What an opportunity for me to know a saint like St. Camillus de Lelis. I admire him really and want to be also like him to help the sick and I thank you Lord for this opportunity because I am a nurse and it is my calling. I love you Lord. Thank you for showing me things, good things, very inspirational. Thank you Lord so much.

Rosary Testimonials - Miracle Stories and Signal Graces

Help me to always trust You, Lord

"The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." — Matthew 21:42

One day, there was a little girl who planted a rose plant. She watered it daily until a little bud appeared.

She was so happy! The little red bud had so much promise, and she wondered when the bud would blossom into a rose. But upon closer examination, the little girl saw that the rose plant was growing thorns — sharp, ugly, prickly thorns. She liked the rose but she hated the thorns. So she decided not to water the plant anymore. And the rose bud never bloomed because the plant died.

I thank God that He isn't like that little girl.

There's a beautiful rose within you. It's just covered with thorns. But despite those thorns, God knows better. It's part of who you are.

And with patience, He will water you — until that rose blossoms. And then He will get the rose and cut the thorns — and put it in a vase — for all the world to see your beauty.

Right now, you may feel as though nothing is happening in your life, that none of your dreams are coming true.

Don't give up, because God doesn't give up on you. Bo Sanchez (bosanchez@kerygmafamily.com)

Reflection: Do you always stumble? Do you feel that nothing's happening in your life? Be patient. God is at work.

Help me to always trust, Lord, that You are doing something when nothing seems to be happening.

2013: Day 59 - Thank You Lord

I woke up this morning, did my laundry and listened to Joyce Meyer on Youtube.
This is the first few sentences I got from her -

"Patience is not the ability to wait. It's how you act while you're waiting. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that only grows and develops under trial."

Thank you so much Lord for you led me to this video. Help me Lord to practice what I heard. Thank You Lord for I am not pushing my hubby to call no more the NVC and to push things according to my will. I believe Lord that Your timing are perfect. I may not be there during my hubby's surgery on March 15 but I know that You are always there for Him. Lord, the next days will be tough esp after hubby's operation for he needs to undergo chemo again but I am lifting it to You Lord and praying for successful surgery and no lymph nodes affected and no trace of cancer in Jesus Mighty name with the intercession of Mother Mary and St. Peregrine. Thank Lord. Thank You Mama Mary and St. Peregrine.

2013: Day 53 - TGIF Prayer Meeting

I attended the prayer meeting tonight even if mom said don't go because the weather is not good. I prayed for a second but I decided to go because I want to seek God first before anything else. I also opened it to God about His commandment to obey your parents but if it is for God - no doubt but YES! I told my mom that I will go and I will be okay. Yes, I am now. I am home safely. Thank You Lord. Thank you for your message tonight Lord. I am giving You Lord the will to transform me Lord to the person you wanted me to be. I love you Lord. You know how I am feeling especially today is hubby's appointment to his surgeon. I don't want to worry no more Lord but instead trusting you that everything will be okay. Thank you Lord.
